10cm는 굉장히 재밌고 열정적인 청년들이었습니다. 우리에게 무려 색기 있게 촬영해줬으면 좋겠다고 요청을 해오기까지 했어요. 색기 있게 찍는 건 어떻게 찍는 거지, 고민하며 몇 군데 모텔에 전화를 돌려봤지만 하나같이 곤란하다는 답변뿐이었습니다. 색이 꼭 그 색만 있는 건 아니지, 체념한 우리는 야박한 모텔 직원들을 저주하며 그랜드마트 근처 샛길에 있는 신촌화원으로 갔습니다만 닫혀 있었지요. 다행히도 마침 들른 상냥한 주인아저씨가 기꺼이 앉을 자리를 내주고 불도 켜주셨습니다. 학생 때 좋아하는 일 해야 한다며 격려해주신 아저씨, 다시 한 번 고맙습니다! 뭐 사실 우리들 중 학생은 몇 없었지만 그래도 구태여 토를 달지는 않았습니다, 하하
10cm were very chilled-out and easy to have around. First they wanted the video to be super sexy which wasn’t an easy request… Wondering how we’re going to do it with two boys, we phoned some motels which didn’t quite work out. But later we found this sweet flower shop called Shinchon Hwawon, in a narrow alley near Grand Mart. It was closed when we got there but the owner happened to come by and kindly got us room and the lights. We appreciate it once again, and also that he told us to do what we want to do while we are still undergrads; well, few of us actually are, but we decided not to bother mentioning it to him. Heh.
그러고 나서 우리는 승객이 제법 있는 273번 버스에 난데없이 올라타 깽판을 쳤습니다... 아니, 이건 뻥입니다. 미리 전화해서 허락을 맡았지요. 하지만 기사 아저씨는 본부에서 연락을 못 받았다고 하고, 회사로 전화하자 촬영을 승인해준 직원은 퇴근하셨고, 성함을 몰라 개인 연락처를 알려달라고 할 수도 없고, 여기저기 전화하고, 아무튼 이런저런 우여곡절을 겪은 끝에 기사 아저씨와 이야기가 되자 마침 사람들이 많이 내려 공간이 생겼고, 묘한 공기 속에서 연주가 시작됐습니다. 버스에서 연주해달라고 하자 반쯤은 기대로 반쯤은 난처함으로 쾌활히 웃던 두 남자는 의외로 무진히 진지하게 노래에 임하더니 실수 하나에도 무척 속상해 했습니다.
And then we broke into the 273 bus which was, unlike what we expected, quite packed. We had already asked for permission, but the driver didn’t know anything about this so we called the company but the guy we talked to had already taken off, so phone call after phone call and blah blah… But we managed to convince the driver at last, and lots of passengers incredibly got off which made us enough space, so the performance began in the last minute. Feeling a bit of pressure from passengers on the crazy shaky bus, the band couldn’t help making a minor mistake at the end whose effect you can see at the end of the vid :)
처음으로 달리는 버스 안에서 연주 및 촬영을 해본 우리들은 자신감이 붙어서, 버스에서 내린 다음 이 가게 저 가게 들리면서 한 곡 해도 될지 물어보고 다녔습니다. 가구점, 옷가게, 하나 같이 돌아온 대답은 영업 중인 매장이라 곤란하다는 것이었습니다. 심지어 한 인형점에서는 장소 대여료를 요구했지요. 날씨도 춥고 배도 고파오고 자신감은 무슨, 그냥 근처에 있던 까페 모과나무 위로 향했습니다. 촬영 허락을 구하고, 난로 곁에서 커피를 시켜놓고, 커피에 관한 노래를 연주하고. 이렇게 렉앤플레이가 시작한 뒤 가장 길고(세 시간 가량) 많이 좌충우돌했던 촬영이 마무리됐습니다.
Little pumped up by our first shooting ever on a running bus, we poked around random stores on the street asking if we could play a song inside. Furniture stores, a fur boutique, a teddy bear shop…FAIL. And soon we got hungry and desperate for some warmth. Finally, the nearby cafe Mogwanamoo Wi let us. Having warm coffee next to the stove, played a song about Americano. This is how we finished up our so-far longest(about three hours) session.
